Fires ignite panic, but Sparks create light

A teacher is small. So is a student. But the world of teaching, and the mass of students together are a force beyond reckoning (at least in some situations). The same is true outside of education - the individual is nothing more than a speck in the pie chart of 7.12 billion human beings on the planet. However, time and time again, the world sees these individuals develop and cultivate life altering ideas, developments, technologies, and more. Time and time again, history has shown that it doesn't matter how "small" someone or something is - all that matters is what that person or object or idea can do.

So from those 7.12 billion people, this one individual is setting out to report on just those small sparks that ignite change - focused on those that benefit others in need. May they be people, animals, organizations, plants, or even technologies, what small pieces of the world make an impact? And how do we make small things, big?

From the year 2015, how are we as a species going to decide on integral, volatile subjects? What are our basic human rights and freedoms in the digital era? How are we to feed the growing population? How will we interact with each other and ourselves? The path to these answers is unclear, pocked by small steps - just the steps I am searching for.
